Please join us for our first Dr. Howard Miller Lecture of 2025. We will be welcoming Dr. Bela Sandor, Professor Emeritus of Engineering Physics at the University of Wisconsin, as he takes an in-depth look into the ancient world of competitive chariot racing, its depiction in Lew Wallace’s classic novel, and the historical accuracy of the film adaptations. Sandor’s expertise on ancient chariots has been featured in the PBS NOVA documentary Building Pharaoh’s Chariots. Lectures are free of charge and begin at 7pm at the Carriage House Interpretive Center on the Study grounds.
